Dennis Greene says that goalkeeper Max Stryjek has become Boston United’s number one summer target.
The Polish youth international was superb during his 12-match loan spell from Premier League Sunderland last season.
And now manager Greene has told the Black Cats he wants to have the 18-year-old at the Jakemans Stadium for a season-long loan.
“Max did great for us last season and it won’t do him any harm coming back here,” Greene told The Standard.
“Playing 40 games at our level will help him out a lot better than playing a handful of games in the under 21s.
“We have a good relationship with Sunderland, so hopefully we can get him back.”
However, it is unlikely that Sunderland would make a decision on Stryjek’s movements until mid-July, meaning Sam Vince would be likely to feature in most of the Pilgrims’ pre-season schedule.
With the majority of next season’s squad signed up, Greene says he won’t be rushed into further signings.
“There’s no panic here,” he added. “We’ve got a good squad and you don’t break what doesn’t need fixing. We just need a couple more in.”
