Jordan Richards said his dad was ‘over the moon’ to learn he had joined Boston United.
The right back, currently on loan from Notts County, is the son of former Pilgrims defender Pedro, who played for United in the 1986-87 season.
“He was really happy and over the moon to find out I was joining Boston, he was ecstatic,” Richards junior told The Standard.
“He’s got good words to say about the place.”
And the father and son appear to be following a similar career trajectory.
Not only do they both play in the same full back role, but they have also turned out for the same clubs.
Richards snr played 399 times for the Magpies, his sole Football League club, before joining the Pilgrims.
However, the young Richards is hoping that match experience at the Jakemans Stadium can help him become a County regular, with a little added advice from dad as well.
“He also played as a right back as well, so it’s good to talk to him about how he played and how the job’s done,”Richards added.
Richards and fellow Magpie Lartey Sarpong are initially on loan with United until December 10.
