Boston United teammates Marc Newsham and Sam Vince went head-to-head for the Pilgrim Lounge Footballer of the Year title at the Boston Standard Sports Awards.
Last year was a memorable one for Newsham, who completed the 2012-13 season with 30 goals, playing in all of the Pilgrims’ 51 competitive matches.
But it was home-town keeper Vince who won the vote.
“I wasn’t really expecting to play for Boston at such a young age. I am playing now and hopefully I can keep my place and build a career out of football,” said 17-year-old Vince who has forced his way into the club’s first team.
