AS ROY Hodgson names his England squad for the European Championships, Boston United can claim to have scored past two of the Three Lions’ keepers.
And current manager Jason Lee was on target against both of them.
They Pilgrims came up against John Ruddy and Joe Hart during their years in League Two.
Ruddy, currently with Norwich City, came up against the Pilgrims during the 2005-05 campaign, as he cut his teeth with Cambridge United.
Boston won both those games.
Greg Strong and Jason Lee were on target as the Pilgrims won 2-1 at York Street in September.
Andy Kirk grabbed the only goal of the game as United won 1-0 in the reverse fixture that January.
The following season, Hart – who has just won the Premier League with Manchester City - came up against the amber and blacks while playing with Shrewsbury.
Jason Lee scored in the 1-1 draw at Boston in August.
Meanwhile, the return match finished by the same score, Noel Whelan netted for United at Gay Meadow.
The only keeper in the squad not to concede against Boston – and Lee – is Rob Green, currently with West Ham.
Also in the 2004-05 season, United came up against former England stopper Ben Foster, then on the books of Kidderminster Harriers.
Boston won both matches 4-0 and 3-0.
