Carl Piergianni says Boston United will hold no fear when they face one of the Skrill North’s deadliest attacks this weekend.

The Pilgrims host second-placed Altrincham on Saturday (KO 3pm).

But despite the Robins boasting two players in the top 10 of the division’s goalscoring charts (James Walshaw has nine goals and Damian Reeves six), the United defender is in a confident mood.

“Altrincham are a good side, but we still fancy ourselves to beat anyone at home,” Piergianni said.

“We’ve got to keep the belief going and we need to come out and play like we did in the first half (against Harrogate). I still fancy us to win.”

United put in arguably their best showing of the season on Saturday when they stormed into a 3-0 interval lead at home to Harrogate, a brace from Marc Newsham seeing him move up to second in the goals chart with 10.

But a forgettable second half saw Town leave York Street with a 3-3 draw.

Piergianni refused to be disheartened, adding: “We’re still around where we want to be in the league, roughly.

“We’ve still got a massive chance of promotion, especially with the play-offs.

“That’s our belief and that’s our aim, we can do that.

“We’ve got to come out and show what we can do. There’s got to be a reaction from the lads.

“All of us need to pick it up.”
