Boston United are hoping their derby dreams come true when the FA Trophy draw is made tomorrow.

Yesterday’s 2-1 victory over Workington saw the Pilgrims earn their place in the hat for the first round of the knockout competition, where the Conference Premier sides also come into the equation... and with that comes the annual calls for an all-Lincolnshire tie against Lincoln City.

“Lincoln City away or at home would be great,” said striker Mark Jones, who says it is also the draw the fans are desperate to see.

“Get a big one. I think we can match anyone on our day in the Conference. Bring anyone on.

“Lincoln-Boston would be a great one for the fans.

“If we got them here they’d bring some fans and hopefully get a lot more Boston fans turn up - it’d be a good atmosphere.”

Defender Carl Piergianni says United should have nothing to fear if they were drawn against the Red Imps.

He added: “Everyone would like to see a little derby against Lincoln.

“Lincoln away or Lincoln here, it’d be great to get a nice tie like that.

“But we feel we can win any home tie as well.

“The main thing is we keep progressing, you never know what can happen in this competition.”

Meanwhile, manager Dennis Greene is hoping that his side will get that Lincoln tie - or the chance to face one of the competition’s lower-ranked sides.

“Lincoln away would be ideal,” Greene added.

“You either want a big draw or somebody you’re more comfortable to beat.

“You either want a big team or a small team - a big occasion or a good chance to progress.

“Staying at home would be nice.”
