Winning ugly is still winning, says Boston United boss Greene

Dennis Greene says he doesn’t care if his Boston United team starts winning ugly... just as long as they keep on winning.

The Pilgrims picked up their fourth straight victory in the Vanarama North on Saturday.

But after a freescoring run which has seen United score five goals in five of their previous six home contests, things weren’t quite as straightforward for the 2-1 victory over Gainsborough Trinity.

But Greene - who so often champions a flowing and attack-minded style of play - says results are the only thing that counts as his club enters the business end of the season.

“The pitches are hard now, when you come to the end of the season they’re dry as a bone and it really makes it hard for slick football like in the wetter conditions,” he said.

“The most important thing now is getting results, not performances.”
