"Chester will be up there fighting for promotion!" Boston United face stern test as they look for first win at Jakemans Community Stadium

Boston United are looking to claim their first win at the Jakemans Community Stadium on Saturday - but manager Craig Elliott expects Chester to offer a stern test.

The Pilgrims boss is tipping the Seals to be one of the main promotion challengers this season, and knows the side led by Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley will be eager to notch up their first ever win at the host's new ground.

Chester - who have not won on the road since October 6's 2-1 victory at Kidderminster Harriers - sit fifth in the National League North standings, three points clear of United but having played three games more.

"I'm under no illusions, Chester are a good team who will be up there fighting for promotion," Elliott said following Tuesday's 1-0 win at Blyth Spartans.

"They've got good managers, good players and they're a big club in their own right.

"It's a difficult game, but going into the new stadium I think most clubs will want to come and put on a good performance and get good results.

"I'm looking forward to it and want to build upon (beating Blyth)."

United are hoping Tom Platt can return from injury following four games on the sidelines.

This week saw Chester left back Joel Taylor join Chesterfield.

The two sides both secured play-off spots last season, but prior to that they shared the points with a 1-1 draw when they met at York Street in August last year, Jordan Thewlis opening the scoring only for George Waring to reply two minutes later.

The fixture at the Swansway Chester Stadium did not go ahead due to the coronavirus.

United haven't beaten Chester since September 2012. On that day a brace from Ben Fairclough and Ben Milnes' goal secured a 3-2 win over the Seals, one of only three defeats that campaign as they stormed to the Blue Square Bet North title with an incredible 107 points.

In between those two meetings Chester claimed three straight victories.

Saturday's contest kicks off at 3pm.
