Craig Elliott believes his Boston United side should have been awarded two penalties as they drew 0-0 with Curzon Ashton.

A point was enough for the Pilgrims to move up to fifth in the National League North, although it may have been three had referee Scott Tallis blown for what appeared to be fouls on Dominic Knowles and Nicky Walker.

“I thought they were both penalties,” Elliott said.

“I don’t like being that manager who moans about referees or other things, but I think they’re both penalties.

“You hope it evens out over the season.”

The draw also sees Curzon open up a four-point gap ahead of the drop zone.

But despite the difference in league positions, Elliott remained pragmatic about the result.

He added: “You’ve got to take what you can out the game, I think.

“Can we play better? Of course we can, but it’s the nature of this league.

“I’m not going to say we should be beating Curzon as that’s disrespectful to teams. They’ve come in had a game plan.

“They beat York. They beat Chester and you can see why in terms of what they do.

“I’m going to be as positive as I can. It’s a clean sheet, two unbeaten and you’ve got to build on that.”
