Craig Elliott wants to bolster his Boston United side with players that bring National League North experience.

With 14 members of last season’s squad on board for the 2021-22 campaign, the Pilgrims are looking to strengthen down the spine.

While manager Elliott says he is open to bringing in players from higher or lower levels, he believes knowledge about step two football could be important.

“You’re always open to anything. I imagine there’ll be a lot of players available from the (Football) League down, but I think in general the lads need to know this level,” Elliott said.

“I’m a big believer in that, it’s a difficult league to play in.

“We’ve got a nice mixture (of players) but we need three or four players down the spine.”

With last season being made null and void, Boston are preparing for their first league season in front of fans in their new Jakemans Community Stadium home.

“We need three of four players to add to this group, to bring excitement to the group - it’s a new season, a new start for everybody,” Elliott added.

“It’s nice to bring in three or four good players who can make you better.

“But I think this time we can really take our time. There’s no rush.

“It’s got to feel right and they’ve got to be better, to push us on to be as good as we can be.”
