Boston United must be prepared to play ‘anywhere, anyhow’.

Manager Craig Elliott believes that’s the only way the Pilgrims - and clubs across non-league - will be able to get through a ‘crazy season’.

United are preparing for a hectic schedule that should see them play up to nine times in 29 days following the rescheduling of matches postponed due to COVID-19.

“I don’t care who we play. I don’t care how many games we’ve got. I just want to get as many games as we can played,” said Elliott, whose 4-0 win at Leamington is the only league fixture played since the campaign kicked off on October 6.

“I’m happy to play Saturday-Tuesday. The big thing for teams will be to try to get games in, and you never know when you might not be playing.

“It’s not just controlling your own environment, you’re relying on other teams as well. Other teams could have disruptions, and that can affect you again.

“I told Craig (Singleton, secretary) we’ll play anytime, anywhere and just get on with it.”

The Pilgrims are due to host AFC Telford United on Saturday (KO 3pm) and Gusieley on Tuesday (KO 7.45pm).

These are due to be followed by four straight away matches at Southport (October 31), Bradford Park Avenue (November 2), Darlington (November 10) and AFC Fylde (November 14).

Home contests against Kettering Town (November 17) and Spennymoor Town (November 21).

November 7’s scheduled match against Chorley has been postponed due to the Magpies receiving an FA Cup bye, and a league contest could also be rescheduled for that date.

Elliott also believes it is important to get matches played in case the season has to be decided on points per game once again.

He added: “Anything could happen and you’ve got to put yourself in a position that, if comes to a decision like that, hopefully you’re up there.

“You need to get as many games in as you can as you don’t want backlogs.

“It’s going to be a crazy season and who knows what it’ll look like in March?”
