BOSTON Town new boy Kieran Davies could not get off to a winning start as the Poachers lost out 1-0 at rivals Blackstones last night.

Davies, 19, will remain on loan at Tattershall Road until November 5, from parent club St Neots.

He was part of the Saints team which won the United Counties League title last season, but is struggling to hold down a regular place this term.

He has already spent a spell on loan at Yaxley this season, netting for the Cuckoos in their 3-1 win over Town last month.

Davies - who has also been on the books of Retford and Boston United - had no luck against former club Blackstones last night.

However, he came closest for the Poachers as his volley, from a Gary Bull cross, sailed narrowly off target.

Stones, who went into this fixture on a five-match losing streak, edged all three points in a largely uneventful game.

Danny Barker proved the difference as he netted the winner with a 19th-minute 20-yarder.

Blackstones: Crockett, Smitheringale, B. Porter, M. Porter, Hunnings, Burns, Pearce (Easson), Boome, Holmes, Oliver, Barker.

TOWN: Wright, Clancy, Borbely (King), Smith, Wood, Pinner, Kirton, Beck, Bull, Davies, Parker.
