Elliott disappointed by second half dip as Boston United beaten at AFC Fylde

Craig Elliott admitted he was left disappointed by a 20-minute spell that saw Boston United's unbeaten run come to an end.

Second half goals from AFC Fylde's Liam Nolan and Nathan Shaw cancelled out Jordan Burrow's opener as the hosts claimed the points with a 2-1 win at Mill Farm.

"I think the performance for 20 minutes in the second half was more disappointing than the result," said the Pilgrims boss, whose side returned to action following a fortnight's period of self isolation.

"It's always difficult to come here to Fylde. We've not done much in two weeks.

"I thought we were excellent in the first half, but never got going to the levels I expected (second half)."

Burrow put Boston ahead but Terry Hawkridge saw two chances saved by Coasters keeper Chris Neal in the opening 45.

"I thought we were worthy of a 2-0 at half time but I think we panicked too early (after conceding)," Elliott told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"We started to play like there was five minutes left with 20 minutes left."

The Pilgrims visibly tired as the game progressed but Elliott hoped his charges could still force a result.

"I don't want to use too many excuses. I thought there were a few leggy players second half, but we could have been better on the ball," he added.

"I don't think there was too much between the teams, two good teams going at it. I'm just frustrated that there was definitely a result for us and I was disappointed to end the unbeaten run."
