Craig Elliott knows Alfreton’s ex-Pilgrims will be back in town with a point to prove.

George Willis, Nicky Walker and Shaun Tuton could all feature in Boxing Day's clash at the Jakemans Community Stadium, having played under the Boston United boss last season.

"They'll be coming here trying (to make a point) but that's how football works," Elliott said.

"A few of those lads were great servants to me and this club. We wish them nothing but well, but they'll be be coming here to give it a good go.

But while the Reds have former players wanting to show Boston what they're missing, ex-Alfreton trio Andi Thanoj,

Luke Shiels and Tom Platt could all have similar thoughts.

"You find that at this level, a lot of ex-players come back and some do well and some don't. We're looking forward to it.

"This is what happens, players move. It happens a lot at this level."

Alfreton were beaten 3-1 by National League King's Lynn in the FA Trophy in midweek and sit third bottom.

However, they have held Southport and Chorley to draws in their past two league fixtures and, despite winning just one of seven league games on the road, Elliott expects a tough battle from Billy Heath's side.

"I watched a bit of them and they look difficult to play against," he said. "But they always are.

"We're four unbeaten now and we've just got to build on that."
