Spalding United may be favourites to win the UCL Premier this season, but Boston Town are keen to get one over their Lincolnshire rivals.

It’s Poachers versus Tulips at Tattershall Road on Tuesday (KO 7.45pm) as the two Yellowbelly opponents will face off in league action.

Pat Rayment’s Spalding squad may be the side tipped for the top - with former Boston United players Lee Canoville, Chris Hall, Nathan Stainfield, Dan Cotton and Jamie Stevens among their squad - but Town boss Ian Dunn is determined his side can prove their worth.

“Spalding may be title favourites, but I’ll be disappointed if we don’t get all three points,” Dunn told The Standard.

“We’re at home, and every side looks at their home matches and wants to win.

“Spalding are a good side, but we’ve got a lot of good players who can do a job as well.”

The midweek match could also see Town midfielder George Stainfield play against his older brother Nathan.

Poachers Liam Bull and Josh Ford may be in line to face their former club.
