Joe Leesley scored direct from a corner as Boston United eased into round three of the FA Trophy.

Jay Rollins and substitute Jordan Burrow was also on target at Evesham United’s Jubilee Stadium this evening.

Victory ensures the Pilgrims a home tie on Saturday where Curzon Ashton or Fylde, who meet tomorrow, will be the visitors.

Club captain Rollins, one of six changes to the starting XI, opened the scoring in the 34th minute, finding the killer touch from close range after Leesley’s corner caused the hosts problems.

Scott Garner’s header was cleared off the line and Luke Shiels rattled the bar with a follow up before the ball finally found the Evesham net.

There was no goalmouth scramble necessary as Leesley doubled the advantage in the 57th minute, this time his corner evading everyone as it found its way over the line as it curled in at the near post.

Burrow had the final say in stoppage time, smashing home Fraser Preston’s cross.

Craig Elliott’s team selection showed the hosts, who play two divisions lower in the Southern League South, respect, but afforded him the chance to give some squad members valuable minutes.

Keeper Peter Crook - pulling off a string of saves to earn his clean sheet - made his first appearance since August’s play-off final defeat, while Tyrell Warren featured for the first time since October’s 1-1 draw with Guiseley.

Leesley, Rollins, Connor Dimaio and Preston also returned to the line-up.
