Leverton beat Old Leake 2-0 to win the Dickie Dales Memorial Trophy - but charity was the real winner.
A total of £1,203.62 was raised for MacMillan Cancer Support at Boston United’s Jakemans Stadium last Monday.
The game itself was a real cracker, the first half proving a real see-saw affair, with both teams probing for an opening and Leverton forced to defend heavily in the opening 10 minutes.
Josh Foreman headed the ball off his own line to keep the score at 0-0 before Leverton grew into the game with each passing moment, and in the second half the introduction of Dom Goddard and Andy Brown paid dividends when they exchanged passes for Brown to open the scoring.
Nathan Rippin then capped off a fine performance to smash home the second and make the game safe as the Boston Saturday League’s Division Two and Sports Cup champions doubled the lead against their Premier opponents in this friendly fixture.
Dave Bent, John Mowatt and Simon Bush officiated the game.
