"One of the best results of the season!" Craig Elliott says Boston United deserve credit for draw at Brackley Town

Craig Elliott described Boston United's goalless draw at Brackley Town as 'one of the best results of the season'.

The Saints have often proved a thorn in the Pilgrims' side, but last night saw Boston hold their own against their tricky hosts, despite regular defenders Luke Shiels and Alex Whittle missing out through illness and injury respectively.

"Fantastic. It's up there with one of the best results of the season, and performances to be honest with you," said Elliott, who made five changes prior to kick off.

"Coming to Brackley is one of the harder games in this league and to have injuries, illness on the day, a lot of change to our regular team, I just think the lads deserve a lot of credit."

Leading scorer Jordan Thewlis returned to the starting XI, as did Jake Wright and Ashley Jackson. Tyrell Warren and Simon Heslop made their first starts for the club.

"We've got a good squad and it's not about these players proving themselves at this level, they're good players and deserve a chance when, you know, the lads have not been great the last two games," Elliott said, having promised sweeping changes following last week's 3-0 home defeat to Gateshead.

"These lads have been training well and been patient and did well tonight.

"I think, in general, we did enough to get a point and I'm delighted to get a point off Brackley, as we all know what a tough team they are."

Midfielder Andi Thanoj was stretchered off midway through the first half, suffering suspected ligament damage to his knee.

While the club await the full report, Elliott was hopeful the player won't be sidelined for too long.

Speaking last night, the manager added: "He's just come in the dressing room now and there's no swelling.

"He can put a bit of weight on it so hopefully it's not as bad as first feared."
