In or out? Craig Elliott reveals the Boston United loanees he wants to keep at York Street

Craig Elliott will begin the new year sorting out the futures of five loan players.

The Boston United manager has four squad members whose spells at York Street will come to an end this week, while midfielder George Green's stay at Gainsborough Trinity will be coming to an end.

Here's Elliott's take on the current situation...

Jake Wright scored both goals as the Pilgrims beat Kettering Town 2-1 on Saturday. His loan ends after January 4's trip to Bradford Park Avenue.

Elliott: "He wants to stay, I want to keep him. So we'll speak to York over the next few days and see if we can get that sorted. I'd like to think they'll let him stay as they've not wanted him, to be honest with you. I don't see why that'll change. I like the lad and think he's a top player."

Dayle Southwell is another striker who has impressed. The former Pilgrim returned to Boston on a month's loan from FC Halifax Town, which comes to an end on January 4.

Elliott: "Dayle, I'd like to keep and give him more games. The first half of his month, it was hard as he was cup tied and then we had a game off. It's not fallen well for him but he's had two good games on the trot."

Aaron Rowe was playing in the Premier League with Huddersfield Town last season. He linked up with Boston following the recall of Demeaco Duhaney, on loan until January 6.

Elliott: "He was brought in at the start after a recommendation from Huddersfield and, at the time, we needed players for that right-hand side. I'm hoping we can get some players back, so we'll see what happens there."

Long-term Lincoln City loanee Jordan Adebayo-Smith has made just two appearances in the past 16 games. His loan ends on January 1.

Elliott: "He's a great lad, unbelievable lad off the pitch. He's not been one bit of bother. He's a good player but he's just unfortunate that we have good players playing well, simple as that. It's nothing on him, but people like Jordan Thewlis and Dominic Knowles have done really well and just forced him out the team. Whenever he's played he's done well and he'll have a big future. But I think it's better he goes somewhere he can be guaranteed games."

United midfielder George Green's loan at Gainsborough Trinity ends on New Year's Day.

Elliott: "I'm not sure on that one to be honest with you, we need to make contact with him this week. I'll be honest with you, I've not had contact with George in the past few weeks so, obviously, we have to wait and see on that one."
