Wyberton Reserves won the Main Ridge Take Away Reserve Cup on Thursday evening.

But they needed extra time to beat Freiston Reserves 3-2 in a closely-contested encounter.

Freiston opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Shane Brackenbury curled in a free-kick.

Perrie Dale and Jamie Elston both had goals disallowed for Freiston before an amazing double miss let Wyberton off the hook.

Brackenbury hit the woodwork after rounding the keeper and Troy Ayton screwed the rebound over from six yards out.

Wyberton drew level after the break when Reece Coddington netted a penalty.

Tom Deamer put Freiston back ahead in extra time when his free kick from the halfway line eluded everyone in the box and found the net.

But Wyberton were level when Nicky Syndercombe headed home.

Syndercombe - who was named as man of the match - then snatched the winner.

He rounded keeper James Wood late on and rolled the ball into the empty net.
