Terry Hawkridge knows all about the importance of a good FA Cup run - and now he wants Boston United to deliver the goods.

The winger was part of the Lincoln City side that knocked out Premier League Burnley on their way to the quarter finals in 2017.

The Red Imps, then in the National League, were eventually beaten 5-0 at Arsenal.

But the camaraderie and cash which that run brought played a big part in Lincoln reaching League One, where they currently play.

“It’s good for the club and players,” Hawkridge said.

“What’s happening at the moment (with COVID-19 and fans not being allowed into games), to get a cup run is going to be important, no matter what the club.

“Hopefully, we can do that and more importantly, be up there come the end of the season.”

Hawkridge opened his Pilgrims account with the first goal of the game as Boston beat AFC Mansfield in the FA Cup on Saturday.

“It’s nice to get on the scoresheet but we knew it’d be a tough game,” he added.

“They’re a good side and beat a few good teams on their way here.

We’ve juts got to take that into the league now.

“I’m really enjoying it at Boston. It’s been a long time (since I last played) and I’m really enjoying it.”

The third qualifying round draw will take place on Monday at 1pm.
