Boston Town target Liam Tunstall has decided not to link up with the Tattershall Road club.
Managers Ian Dunn and Matt Hocking put in a seven-day approach, hoping to prize the goalscorer away from United Counties League Premier Division rivals Sleaford Town.
However, Tunstall has decided he wants to stay at Eslaforde Park.
The news has frustrated Town, with Dunn saying he had held ‘positive talks’ with the forward, who he thought could answer the side’s problems in recent weeks.
“We just need a poacher and a bit of luck to go for us,” he said.
“I could have seen him scoring a lot of goals for us.
“We wanted to get him over here but obviously it didn’t work out.
“Fair play to him for wanting to stay with his club.”
