THE York Street Stand at Boston United’s Jakemans Stadium has changed sponsors this week, ready for the next season.

Sibsey-based Benton Brothers Transport have ended their long-running sponsorship of the 70 metre long stand, which is shared by home and away supporters.

However, the advertising space has been snapped up by Lincolnshire Co-operative for the 2012-13 season, and will soon be given a facelift with the distinctive white and blue branding of the new sponsors.

United commercial manager Craig Singleton said: “Benton Brothers had provided our longest-standing sponsorship, so it is obviously sad to see the end of this long-running and worthwhile partnership.

“We must thank Martin Benton for his excellent support over the course of the last 10 years or so. It has been much appreciated by everybody at Boston United.”

Reflecting on the new sponsors he said: “It is a great boost to attract such a well-known name as Lincolnshire Co-operative to sponsor the York Street Stand.

“We spoke to a number of companies who were interested in this excellent marketing opportunity and we were delighted when it emerged Lincolnshire Co-operative would be joining forces with Boston United ahead of the new season. It is a timely boost with the new season only a matter of weeks away.

“We thank Sam Turner and Richard Whittaker at Lincolnshire Co-operative for their initial support and look forward to working with them throughout the forthcoming season.”

The re-branding of the stand will be completed in advance of the Pilgrims’ first home Blue Square Bet North encounter of the season on August 21 against Histon.
