Saturday saw Coningsby FC entertain Wyberton Reserves for their first game of the new season.
The play was respectful early on as the teams sized each other up before Wyberton’s Liam Shinn loosed a magnificent long volley from the left field to open the scoring. The visitors then rattled the Coningsby woodwork just two minutes later, but the score remained 1-0 at half–time.
With the visitors looking the stronger side, they went on to score twice more after the break, one from a cross and the other the outcome of a goalmouth skirmish, making the final result 3-0 to Wyberton.
Although defeated, the match was a useful blooding for the several of Coningsby’s new signings.
