Freiston, Leake and Leverton secured victory in a dramatic South Lincs and Border League Division One contest at Heckington.

Down to their final wicket, the pairing of Tommy Atkinson and Taimur Mian secured victory.

And that was enough for the club to move up to second in the table.

After electing to bowl, Freiston dismissed Heckington for 156.

W. Charlesworth top scored for Heckington with a fluent 56 before he was well caught by Atkinson off the bowling of Abdul Moeed.

Ollie Booth was the pick of the bowlers for Freiston.

He took four wickets while Tommy Atkinson claimed two scalps when he returned with the old ball to go with two good catches.

Heckington’s total began to look well under par when Freiston raced to a score of 48 without the loss of a wicket.

Richard Paul (18) and Waseem Ilyas (29) gave Freiston a strong start.

However, the visitors slumped in dramatic fashion to 50-4 as opening bowler Bristow took three wickets.

Zeeshan Saaed made a score of 27, but when he was well caught in the covers just before the drinks interval, Freiston looked in real trouble at 93-6.

However Freiston’s lower order were up for the challenge and Darren Tate (13), Connor Goodfellow (22) and Ollie Booth (21) played their parts before Freiston reached 159-9.

In the RP Smith Friendly League, Freiston’s Secinds were beaten by five wickets against Grimoldby.

James Reed top scored for Freiston with 62, as they made 138 off their 40 overs.

Graham Kirtley also contributed a well-made 19 to the cause.

With the ball Freiston managed to reduce Grimoldby to 62-5.

However, a matchwinning partnership between W. Laughton (47 not out) and J Owen (39 not out) took Grimoldby to victory.

Vishal Rajput claimed two wickets, whilst opening bowler Dan Lumley claimed his first wicket in an impressive eight over spell.
