Freiston L&L (94-3) beat Alford (93 all out) by seven wickets producing a major upset for the reigning champions despite missing a number of key players.
Opening, Tommy Atkinson and Paul Chester started well for Freiston. Atkinson bowled economically, while Chester had White caught by wicket keeper Zeeshan Saeed.
Freiston’s fielding was also sharp, as calm throws from Ollie Booth and Richard Paul saw them claim two valuable run outs.
Chester picked up his second wicket clean bowling Irving.
Ollie Booth claimed Balding for 12 before bowling Bains first ball. Ashok Kumar had top scorer Hennessey caught at cover by Paul for 24, before Booth claimed two more victims.
Chasing a low total Freiston started positively. Openers Zeeshan Saeed and Umar Dar put on 30 before Saeed was caught in the covers for 16.
Dar made 10 before being bowled by Balding and Stewart Kirtley made eight. But a superb unbeaten 41 from Rob Sexton saw Freiston home with ease.
Sexton struck seven fours and a six, as Freiston romped home with more than 20 overs spare to record a memorable win.
