BOSTON Rabbits section were in sparkling form as they successfully defended the three-cornered Nelson Cup last week.
The three-cornered competition was held at Seacroft Golf Club, near Skegness, with the hosts and North Shore, also from Skegness, making up the opposition.
The hosts were odds-on favourites as their challenging links course usually provides too stern a test for the lads from The Fens.
As holders, Boston always believed that they had a chance, knowing full well that some of their number were more than capable of playing to their handicap, none more so than Brian Smith, who had shot two over par over Boston’s back nine in the previous week’s Am-Am at Boston.
And with six of the 12 scores to count, it was Boston who carried the day with, unsurprisingly, their best round coming from ‘Smithy’ as expected.
Rabbits captain, Pete Keal was full of praise for his team, commenting: “It was not just about one man, it was a real team effort!”
