BOSTON Cricket Club batsman Jonathan Cheer has been named as the county’s Young Player of the Year.
The 19-year-old received the Mike Molloy Trophy at the weekend’s Lincolnshire Cricket Ltd and Lincs ECB Premier League awards night.
Boston CC’s husband and wife team of David and Janet Morris were also awarded for their hard work, with David receiving the Ann Boulton Services to Cricket Award and Janet taking home the Scorers’ Award, sponsored by our sister paper the Lincolnshire Free Press.
Cheer recorded stunning batting figures as he played for Boston Firsts in the county’s top flight and also for the Sunday Firsts in the Lincoln and District League Premier Division.
He recorded the top six innings for the Boston club in all competitions last year.
He also had the eighth best score as well.
He played in a total of 37 matches for Boston CC last season, scoring a whopping total of 1,777 runs.
His best score of 138 came against Skegness in the Premier League. He also recorded six not outs, eight half centuries, seven centuries and an average of 57.32 runs - and he also had one duck to his name.
Cheer is pictured receiving his trophy at the weekend’s ceremony from county ECB chairman Colin White.
