Tom Baxter is calling on his Boston Cricket Club First XI to continue putting the pressure on Grantham.
The Mayflower men closed the gap on the South Lincs and Border League leaders to seven points on Saturday, following their abandonment and Grantham’s defeat to Stamford Town.
This weekend, Boston host third-placed Lindum Seconds.
And captain Baxter says it is vital for his team’s promotion bid that they put the pressure on Grantham, rather than giving their opponents a chance of leapfrogging them.
“Lindum have the potential to beat any side in this league on their day,” Baxter said.
“If they have their strongest side out, they will be a very good side, with players involved that should be playing Premier League cricket.”
Boston will welcome Matthew Poole back to the side.
They are expected to be at full strength for the must-win game.
With eight games remaining, Boston believe that anything short of eight wins may rule them out of the title and a return to the Lincs ECB Premier League.
Boston and Grantham both have their destinies in their own hands as they still have each other to play.
“Grantham will still expect to win the league,” Baxter added.
“They shouldn’t lose to anyone with the side they have and losing on Saturday will just spur them on.”
