Some of crickets great and good will be on show this Friday, as the Lashings All Stars roll into town.

The likes of Monty Panesar, Andrew Gale, Gordon Greenidge, Kirk Edwards, Wasim Jaffer, Alfonso Thomas and John Emburey will be taking on a Boston CC side at the Mayflower on Saturday.

Sherwin Campbell, Chris Schofield, Martin Bicknell, Charl Willoughby plus a yet-to-be-named special guest star will complete the squad.

And commentator Henry Blofeld will also be in attendance to offer his much-loved observations.

“We’re looking forward to it, it should be a good day,” said Boston CC’s Dave Newman.

“The main thing is that everyone has a good time and is entertained.”

The cricket action begins at 3pm, with Lashings - as is customary - batting first.

But the all stars will be at the Mayflower throughout the day to mingle with the crowds, pose for photos and sign autographs.

There will also be plenty of entertainment for those who aren’t huge fans of the sport, such as bouncy castles, rides and a rodeo for kids, plus raffles, a bar and barbecue.

Junior coaching will also take part in the morning.

The gates open at 11am, with entry costing £4 (£3 concessions) and a family of four ticket available for £10.

Corporate packages are also available, and there will be an auction featuring plenty of sports memorabilia.

Boston’s squad for the day will be Tom Baxter, Jonny Cheer, Ryan Croom, Newman, Liam Sparke, Riley Orr, Scott Elleray, Saihan Azim, Tim Bell, Kieran Evans, Tom Poole and Ben Troops.
