Lawson and Troops guide Boston CC Seconds to victory

Boston CC Seconds earned their first win of the season by defeating Lindum Thirds by 76 runs in the South Lincs and Border League Division One.

After being put into bat, Boston lost openers Dave Gilding and Tom Poole within the first five overs.

On the ropes, skipper Luke Gilding (pictured) and Damian Lawson steadied the ship until a false shot from Gilding saw him removed for 18.

This was a trend of the innings as Rob Grant, Chris Morley and Charlie Roberts all returned to the pavillion in swift succession.

Lawson came to Boston’s aid with a fantastic knock of 65 which showed class and determination.

Support was given by the experience of Paul Deans (28) before Boston were bowled out for 55.

Lindum’s hopes of victory were dashed early on by the mercurial Micky Troops, claiming four wickets for the loss of 29 runs.

Support came from Deans (2-6), Shaun Moore (1-20), Tom Appleyard (1-14) and Luke Gilding (1-7).

On Saturday Boston travel to face Skegness Seconds.

Boston Thirds suffered a 58-run defeat at home to Claypole in the SLBL Division Three.

Claypole posted 148 before they were dismissed in ther 36th over, Boston’s wickets taken by Steve Appleyard (4-25), Callum McNultty (2-47), Wills Barker (2-4) and Kevin Brooks (1-38).

With the bat, Boston were dismissed for 90, Steve Elleray (14), Rowan Evans (13) and Barker (11 not out) top scoring.

Boston Sunday Seconds’ Lincoln and District League contest did not goa head as opponents Blankney conceded.

Graves Park were beaten by six wickets against Tetford in the East Lindsey League Division One this weekend.

The Park posted 207-7 on Saturday before their opponents triumphed with 209-4.
