Mitchell hits 84 runs in Boston Cricket Club’s Second XI victory

Peter Mitchell struck 84 runs as Boston’s Second XI defeated Heckington Firsts.

The opening batsman struck 14 fours as he guided the Mayflower men to a 91-run victory in the South Lincs and Border League Division One.

Ben Troops and Abdul Moeed both added 18 runs to the score while an unbeaten 16 from Tony Baxter helped the hosts reach 198 before they were dismissed in the 43rd over.

In response, Boston wasted no time in working their way through the Heckington batting order, the 10-man away side being dismissed for 107 in the 31st over.

Shaun Moore (3-6) led the way for the batsmen, with further wickets claimed by Troops (2-20), John Morris (2-13) and Moeed (1-18).

Boston Thirds suffered a 166-run defeat at Lindum Thirds in Division Two.

Lindum posted 254-7, with wickets being taken by Kevin Brooks (3-40), Steven Elleray (2-17), Harry Laidlow (1-49) and Dave Gilding (1-35).

Boston posted 88 runs before being dismissed.

Karl Pick (25) and Scott Gray (15) were the best performers with the bat, reaching double figures.

Boston’s Sunday Seconds won by 130 runs at home to Cherry Willingham in the Lincoln League Division One.

Ryan Croom (61 not out), Matthew Hood (51), Luke Gilding (34), Ben Troops (28), Callum McNulty (19) and Peter Mitchell (18) helped Boston to 229-6.

In response, Willingham were dismissed for 99 within just 24 overs as wickets were claimed by Steve Appleyard (6-29), Troops (3-35) and Oliver Thurlby (1-24).
