A scramble for second spot

A team of mixed handicap players from Boston Golf Club’s Ladies’ Section travelled to Seacroft for a friendly match against Seacroft Ladies.

Boston were only able to win one of the matches, resulting in a 3-1 defeat.

Twenty-five teams of four from around the county played in Boston Ladies’ Open Texas Scramble, with a minimum of three drives taken by each player.

In glorious weather the scores were expected to be low, and the cards did not disappoint.

The winning team with 59.7 were Mandy Horne, Lynda Ramscar, Maggie Muir and Jules Palmer from Blankney .

In second place with 59.9 were Ruth Simpson, Joan Young, Yvonne Shaffarczyk (Boston) with Kate Hall-Jones (Woodhall Spa).

Third were G. Sly, G. Wilson, J. Lambert and R. Rickett with 61.9 from Thorney Lakes while fourth went to J. Wilson, C. Stothard, B. Foster and K. Bullimore with 63.2.

The best visiting team - not in the main prizes went to P. Coleman, L. Ginty, S. Dearle and L. Fletcher from Woodhall spa. May Brown (Belton Park) and Jane Cowan (Kirton Holme) won nearest the pin on holes five and 14.

Boston Golf Club’s Am-Am was won by R. Goy, D. Williamson, K. Williamson and T. Hayes with a score of 92.

In second were J. Hadwick, C. Bastock, P. Bastock and M. McPhail with 84, while third went to J. Duran, S. Main, T. Davis and D. Hazelhurst with 83.
