FATHER and son combination of Barry and David Carter won the Kirton Holme Golf Club 20th Anniversary Open Day.
Played in very difficult conditions of strong winds and driving rain they scored 41 points with Tony Favell and Tyrone Medlock second, on countback, with 39, Chris Brinkley and Chris Runnalls third also with 39, Nigel Priestnall and David Barton fourth with 39, Nigel Simpson and Jonathan Hull fifth with 39 and Nick Coupland and Craig Oliver sixth on 39.
Best ladies were Claire Rylott and Val Wilkinson with 36 points and best mixed pair was Paul and Elaine McCartney with 36.
Longest drives competitions were won by Jackie Ward for the ladies and Paul McCartney for the men and nearest the pin was won by Vee King for the ladies and David Smith for the men.
l AT BOSTON West the Boston West Seniors’ Annual Championship match was played over 36 holes in two consecutive weeks in June.
Approximately 40 members took part and the winner of the first week’s 18 holes was Adrian Holland with a net 72 shots, second Tony Beebe 73, and third Larry O’dea 73 (on count back).
The second round winner was Rod Roberts with a net 71, second Adrian Holland 72, and third Geoff Upsall 73. Overall champion was Adrian Holland with a net 144, while Larry O’dea had the best gross score with 172 shots.
Belton Woods golfers were guests at Boston and won 5-3. The winning teams were John Chain with John Baker, Rod Roberts with Gerald Green, and Brian Curtis with Dave Brown.
The Boston Seniors travelled to Toft Golf Course and were thrashed 8-0.
Blankney visited Boston West and beat the home team 5.5-2.5.
Successful teams were John Chain with John Mitchell, Geoff Upsall with Larry O’dea. Jim Weight with Ricky Elms held their match to a half.
l AT BOSTON Golf Club Paul Howden, playing off 22, won last Saturday’s stableford scoring a good 41 points. Runner-up was Craig Oliver with 39 points.

l Sunday’s better ball stableford pairs was won with a steady score of 42 points by Mark Jones and Trevor Newton, Brian Smith and his Mexican brother were second on count back on 40 points.

l South Kyme Ladies have managed to play a few rounds recently, including the Jules Stableford which was won by Sue Annibal.
The ladies also managed to play both the July Sunday Medal and the Tuesday Medal on time, although conditions were not ideal.
The Sunday Medal was won by Jenny Atherton. Jackie Downing was second and Sue Annibal was third. Sue won the Tuesday Medal with Jackie in second place and Sandra Lee third.
