BADAC youngsters show improvement

Boston and District Athletic Club representatives produced improved performances at the fourth Humberside Track and Field League event at Scunthorpe last weekend.

At under 15 level Oliver Simmonds recorded a double, winning both the high jump - with a fine clearance of 1.70m - and the 80m hurdles in a time of 13.2 secs.

Under 13 Aidan Ellis won the 100m sprint, clocking 14.2secs.

In the under 11 age group, Matthew Lewis won two of his three competitions, winning heat one of the 80m sprint in 12.8 secs and throwing the whizzer 20.51m for a second victory.

Matthew also claimed sixth position in the long jump off a 10m run-up, leaping a distance of 3.03m.

In the under 11 girls’ category, Lyle Burrell-Kenny was second in the long jump off the reduced run-up, clearing 3.12m.

She added a third place in her heat of the 80m sprint, recording 13.5 secs as well as fifth position in the whizzer with 13.04m.

Megan Reid was sixth in the 150m in 27.1 secs, fourth in the whizzer with 13.72m and 12th in long jump with 2.59m.

Georgia Ward achieved third position in the whizzer with 13.92m, finished fifth in her heat of of the 150m in 27.9secs and 15th in long jump, clearing 2.21m.

Under nine Edward Evison clocked 2 mins 16.1 secs for second place in the 600m and also crossed the finish line third in the fastest heat of the 80m in a time of 13.2 secs.

Two under nine girls each competed in three events, with Ronnie Grey claiming second place in the long jump with 2.59m and another second in her heat of the 80m, clocking 14.8 secs.

She added fourth position in the whizzer with a throw measuring 10.26m.

Issy Reid was fifth in her heat of the 80m, recording 15.4 secs.

She also finished seventh in both long jump with 1.86m and the whizzer with 7.14m.
