Beesley brothers earn tennis tournament victories

Boston Tennis Club’s Dominic and Henry Beesley have both won singles tournaments.

Henry played in two under 16 regional competitions in Sutton Coldfield and Cheltenham last week.

He beat Freddie Grant, from Surrey, 6-2, 7-6 in the final of the Sutton Coldfield tournament, before succeeding in the Cheltenham final by beating James Edwards, from Somerset, 6-0, 7-5 in the final.

Brother Dominic played in the men’s event at Cheltenham and won it beating Noah Pring, from Avon, in the final 6-0, 6-1.

Terry Wilkinson and Jill Hole won the annual St George’s Day tournament at Boston Golf Club.

Terry won 40 games to be crowned male champion, while Jill Hole claimed a fantastic 57 games.

Emad Al Gamil and Sue Dring were the runners-up with 39 games apiece.

The competitors were split up in to four teams and there was, in addition to the individual prizes, a team award.

The winning team included Terry Wilkinson, Emad Al Gamil, Sue Dring , Gordon Gray, Lesley Pexton and Karin Hinshelwood.

There were more excellent results for junior teams in Aegon Team Tennis events.

Boston A orange team played Boston B orange team at nine and under level.

The A team of Will Cheer, Devon Morgan, Serena Murrows and Lois Boothby won all but one rubber against Rebecca Dickens, Isobel Wookey, Bethany Hayes and Frank Deri.

Boston under 10s green - William Cheer, Tomas Piggins, Louise Sharp, William Lakin- won against Tennis Buddies and the under eight A red team had a win at Grantham, thanks to the team of Lois Boothby, Isabel Wookey, Paul Aranin and James Gedney.
