Billiards star Taylor is on international duty

Chris Taylor fell at the final hurdles of two national finals.

He took on in-form Suffolk cueman Phil Mumford in the CIU National Billiards final and the combined snooker and billiards titles.

However, it was Mumford who claimed both titles in Leeds.

But there was some consolation as Taylor’s performances saw him selected to join Mumford and Rob Hall to represent England in the World Team Championships.

The event is currently being held in Glasgow, on the back of the Comonwealth Games, and runs until tomorrow (Thursday).

England are hoping to beat off competition from Scotland, Ireland, Austria, India and a host of other nations.
