Dave Coupland missed the cut in the Barclays Kenya Open - the first even on this year’s Challenge Tour calendar.
The Boston golfer shot a one-below-par 71 on the first day of competition, but a second round of 78 saw him miss out on the final two days at Karen CC in Nairobi.
However, Coupland did have something to cheer about as his team won the Pro-Am, not a bad way to celebrate his 30th birthday.
Swede Sebastian Soderberg topped the leaderboard on -18 after his four rounds, claiming 35,200 Euros in prize money.
The next round of the Challenge Tour - European golf’s second tier - will be the Red Sea Egyptian Challenge, presented by Hassan Allam Properties.
Day one of action at the Sokhna Golf Club unfolds on April 20.
