An action packed day of racing in sunshine was the order of the day for a big crowd at the Wainfleet and District Sporting Motorcycle Club’s Robert Chatterton Trophy Super Speedtrack event at the weekend.
Friskney’s Colin Blackbourn, with passenger Carl Pugh, won the 1,000cc sidecar event, with Rod Winterburn/Liam Brown second and Rob Bradley, with Wrangle’s Shaun Simpson, third.
The 2011 club champion Daniel Winterton returned from his year off to be named Rider of the Day with five unbeaten rides in the 500cc Solo class, with Gareth Hickmott second and John Smart third.
The 350cc class was won by Manchester’s Andy Mellish.
The 250cc Solo class was won by former British Masters Champion David Knowles.
Junior race winners were Sam McGurk (Auto Cadet Class, 6-8 years), George Hopper (Cadet Class), Milo Griggs (Junior, (9-11 years), Jack Thomas (Intermediate).
The club’s next event is the David Nix Memorial meeting, which will be held on June 16.
