Boston and District AC’s athletes have the power

AS THE 2012 Track and Field season approaches the final stages, a number of Boston and District AC athletes are featuring in the UKA East Midlands Region Power of Ten Ranking Lists.

At under 17 level, Maria Hollingsworth tops the 80m hurdles list with 11.64 secs, achieved at the ESAA Championships at Gateshead last month.

Maria’s time puts her in fifth position on the UK’s overall list for the event.

Her 15.2 secs time achieved on her first 2012 outing in the 100m hurdles event at Cudworth last weekend also secured Maria third place on the under 20 regional list in that event.

Her season’s best 100m time of 13.1 secs earned eighth position on the East Midlands under 17s women’s list. Her time of and 27.4 secs for 200m secured 11th position.

In the same age group, teammate Rebecca Locking is ninth on the 100m sprint list with 13.2 secs, and 19th in the 80m hurdles.

With the challenge of the English Schools AA Combined Events Championships to come next month, Gold Tops junior pentathlete Frances Nuttell is second in the East Midlands table.

Her points total of 2,266, achieved at the East Anglian Regional final at Bedford, places her second on the under 15s list.

Her PB high jump clearance of 1.58m, achieved earlier in the season, put Frances at the top of the regional rankings.

Her best time of 12.2 secs for the 75m hurdles secured fourth position at East Midlands level.

Selena Wells also features on the junior girls’ regional list, clinching sixth place on the shot list with 8.52m and 14th in discus with 20.40m.

In the under 20s age group, Alice Flint appears on three Power of Ten event lists.

She is in fifth position in the 400m hurdles, with 70.3 secs, sixth in heptathlon on 2,816 points and ninth in triple jump with a clearance of 9.56m.

In the senior men’s category, Stuart Smith is listed third in discus with a throw of 41.13m and 17th in shot with a putt of 10.88m.

Stuart also appears 20th in the hammer rankings with 39.25m and 36th in javelin with 39.25m.

Three BADAC representatives appear in the regional under 20 men’s rankings.

Aidan McClure’s best high jump clearance of 1.80m places him third in the East Midlands.

Josh Wattam earned fifth position in the 400m hurdles list with 61.3 secs and seventh in the demanding 110m hurdles (17.2 secs).

His 200m time of 23.5 secs put him in 17th position.

Sam Johnson appears in seventh spot in the 400m hurdles with 61.7 secs and he has added 17th position in the 400m with a time of 53.8 secs.
