Boston Indoor Bowls Club’s ladies’ Mason Team were on national competition duty when they took on Spalding.

After 10 ends the situation looked hopeless with the home set of I. Reeson, S. Simpson Shaw, D. Wilson Rogers and J. Cammack trailing 8-9 and the away rink of J. Sharp, M. Kisby, J. Vinter and G. Grant were on the wrong end of a 21-2 scoreline.

However, final scores of 23-14 for J. Cammack and 18-23 for G. Grant put the ladies into the last 32 in the country.

They will now face Lincoln.

Holland Fen took advantage of a double week to surge back to the top of the Division One table in the Boston Indoor Bowls League.

They beat A40 6-0 (Mick Tomlin 28-13, Martin Tomlin 22-15) and Swineshead by the same score (K. French 27-14, Mick Tomlin 26-19).

Deposed leaders Eastenders dropped a couple to Invaders as R. West’s 15-14 was bettered by the 23-7 reply from A. Field.

Carlton Road and Half Pints fought out a close game with a 23-16 from C. Gill just edging out T. Nunn’s 21-16 reply for a 4-2 Carlton Road success.

A40 earned a 6-0 win over IBC (J. Cammack 24-16, J. Gott 26-11) while Jolly Farmers earned a good 5-1 win over Royal Mail, J. Maury winning 20-9 and K. Sharp and J. Moore level at 16-16.

Division Two leaders Norprint dropped a couple of points to Strollers as D. Butwright’s 21-19 couldn’t match J. Nicholson’s 27-8.

Parthians beat Poachers 4-2 thanks to a 34-17 from K. Nix, with a 26-24 reply from E. Ulyatt.

Punchbowlers fell 4-2 to the Feathers, J. Skelton’s 19-17 not quite good enough to match B. Sansam’s 14-11 reply, while the Golfers kept up their good run with a 6-0 win over The Crowns, N. Ablard’s 29-10 edging out G. Scarboro’s 13-12.

Amateurs closed the gap on Breakaways with a 4-2 win, P. Weaver’s 18-12 beating I. Dilley’s last end 16-15 reply.

Bottom team Boston Park beat Patriarchs 4-2 as a 36-16 for A. Batchelor beat A. Bristow’s 22-12 reply.

The top two in Division Three traded 6-0 wins this week, The Burtons over U3 (C. Newham 19-14,C. Hill 26-9) and Central over High Flyers (M. Nicholls 23-13, F. Epton 22-17).

Shipmates lost ground in third after a 4-2 defeat by Vikings, D. Locking’s 24-16 not quite matching the 24-12 reply from P. Jacklin, while Fairways moved to within a point after a 4-2 win over Sibsey.

H. Scarboro’s 28-10 beat the 22-10 reply from S. Bridges.

Hotspurs move level with Fairways with a good 6-0 win over Traders (D. Fox 27-10, M. Goodeson 25-12).

BBC leap frogged The Autos after a 4-2 win, a 33-7 from T. Vere beating the 23-9 reply from B. Skelton.
