BOSTON Rowing Club achieved a hat-trick of victories in the St Neots Town Rowing Regatta on the Great Ouse.
Ten members of the club competed in 1k races on Saturday and 500m sprints on Sunday.
In good conditions, the Boston team brought home three wins in the singles, doubles and pairs.
In the women’s novice double sculls (WN 2x) Fuschia Summerfield and Nicole Hendy progressed through heats and semi finals, beating Sudbury and Yare Rowing Clubs on the way to recording an impressive one-length win over Trinity Rowing Club in the final down the short course.
Adam Berry and Glen Ablard rowed to a two-length win in a straight final with York City Rowing Club.
They had previously beaten Sudbury RC in the fine art of coxless pairs rowing (N2-) which requires fine timing and balance over 500m.
Harriet Housam continued her superb form this year by taking the women’s junior 18 years single sculls (WJ18 1x) title after beating Globe RC in the semi by four lengths and Norwich RC by three lengths in the final.
Boston were unfortunate not to gain more silverware when Lewis Todd returned to the Boston RC squad from Plymouth RC.
Todd reached a semi and a final in single sculling events (IM3 and IM1 1x, ) as well as a semi in the mixed doubles with Harriet Housam (MxdIM3 2x).
Debut squad places were given to Polly and Saffy Summerfield in the Women’s junior 13 years double sculls (WJ13 2x), the duo raced superbly keeping good rhythmn, pace and timing and showed their coaches a good deal of promise for the future although losing to a stronger St Neots crew.
Other squad crews included: Elms, Ablard, Berry, Campion, 1k, (IM2 4x), Ablard Berry, 1k (N2-), Berry, 500m (IM1 1x), Ablard, 500m (IM3 1x), Housam, Campion, 500m (Mxd IM2 2x).
