BOSTON Tennis Club’s Ladies’ Thirds earned a 5-4 victory in the Slazenger Doubles League this weekend.

They travelled to Grimsby to face the St James club, winning 5-4.

The team was Hilary Calvert, Victoria Needham, Helen Cook, Sophie Hawkesworth, Helen Motson and Jayne Walsh.

Boston Ladies’ Fourths - Joan Beale, Sue Beesley, Penny Gibbons, Jenny Grant, Helen Duckett and Sophie Walsh - lost out 1-8 to Woodhall’s first team in the same division.

Boston Men’s Fifths also played Woodhall, and similarly missed out 2-7.

The team were Sev Smura, Ryan FRankish, Peter Elphick, Zac McDonnell-Woods, Michal Chmielik and RichardTupper.

The final results for the Aegon Team Tennis competitions were logged this weekend.

The Boston under 12s Boys and under 10 Mixed were in action.

For the under 12s, the Boston A team - David Dorey-Rodriguez, Michael Niedermeier, Robert Hayes and Tom Coley - faced Boston B’s Max Wilson, James Colam, Harry Foster and George Wookey.

After the singles and doubles rounds were complete, the scores were level at three rubbers apiece, with the A team winning the championship tie-break 10-6.

Boston B team had won three matches through the season, all of them going down to the deciding tie-breaker, but pipping David Lloyd, Burton Waters, Deeping and Eastgate.

The B team finished in a creditable third place, marginally ahead of Boston A, a team suffering from player injuries this year.

Boston under 10 Mixed A won the South Division and played Burton Waters, North Division winners, in the county final on Saturday.

The team of Lucy Hull, Lucas East, Matthew Gedney and Daniel Dorey-Rodriguez came out of the singles and doubles level with the opposition. This triggered another tie-breaker decider that was won by Burton Waters 10-8.

The team finish the league as runners-up after a very good effort.
