Boston Tennis Club Ladies’ Fifths finish on a high

Boston Tennis Club’s Ladies’ Fifth team have finished their Lincolnshire Slazenger Doubles League campaign on a high note with two wins.

In Division 3B, the ladies earned a 7-2 win over Louth Indoor Thirds.

The team was Sue Burnett, Tracy Hull, Denise Priestley, Jessica Frankish, Lucy Hull and Tabitha Priestley, who was playing in her first match.

This followed an earlier 6-3 win over Bourne Seconds, when the players involved included Denise Priestley, Lucy Hull, Jude Green, Tracy Hull and Sophie Hawkesworth.

The Ladie’s Fourths also had a win over Bourne Seconds.

The team of Jenny Grant, Penny Gibbons, Lesley Addy, Lyn Edwards, Sue Dring and Jude Green did not concede a rubber.

The Men’s First team, competing in Division One, were disappointed with a 2-7 defeat at Grantham.

Ray Frankish, Sam Kemp, Henry Beesley, Dom Beesley, James Newton and Mike Burnett were defeated in two third set tie-breaks which, if won, may have put some extra pressure on the home team.

The Men’s Firsts sit in third place with one match to go.

The Men’s Seconds, in Division Two, finished the season with a 3-6 loss to Sleaford Firsts.

The team included Owen Jary, Geoff Short, John Gibson, David Cheer, Anthony Hulley and Dan Bambridge.

The Men’s Thirds finished the season with a 3-6 loss to St James.

The team was Sam Khan, Zach McDonnell-Woods, Toby McDonnell-Woods, Zafar Khan, Richard Woods and Michael Audus.

The Men’s Fifth team play in Division 3B and they completed the season with a loss to divisional winners Spalding.

It was a 1-8 defeat for the team of David Makins, Andy Clamp, Michal Chmielik, Thomas Cozens, Sev Smura and Richard Cozens.
