BOSTON Tennis Club’s under 12s boys team have won the county play-offs to become the Aegon Lincolnshire champions.
The team of Blake Kennealy-Forrester, Sam Felipes, Toby McDonnell-Woods and Thomas Cozens beat St James at Grimsby 5-1 in the first place play-off to claim the title.
In the Lincolnshire Doubles League there have been wins for Boston Men’s and Ladies’ first teams. In Division One, the men had a good win against Burton Waters. There were five three-setters in the match and Boston won three of them to give them a welcome 5-4 win.
The team was Sam Kemp, Will Mason, Mark Thompson, Dom Beesley, Steve Green and Lewis Fisher.
The ladies – Sam Cook, Emily Hawkesworth, Madeline Verdegaal, Rachel Atkinson, Joan Beale and Tricia Sweeney – beat Grimsby in Division One.
The Ladies’ Seconds, also playing in Division One, beat Collingham 6-3. The team was Catherine Ellis, Vicki East, Jenny McGarel, Ailsa Linnell, Vicki Lowe and Mary Smura.
The Ladies’ Thirds and Fourths have both played Lincoln’s Eastgate in Division two matches. Both teams recorded wins against the Lincoln team.
The thirds won 9-0 thanks to Andrea Jackson, Claire Smith, Helen Cook, Lucy Fowler, Linda Barrow and Emily Hiew.
The Ladies’ Fourths beat Eastgate 6-3 with the team of Jane Hindmarch, Rachel Gedney, Joan Beale, Dana Kenneally-Forrester, Tricia Sweeney and Helen Duckett.
Thirty-six entrants from several clubs including Woodhall Spa, Heighington, Bourne and Horncastle took part in a Ladies’ Day competition on Thursday.
There were three pairs of winners – Lisa Stevenson and Effie Warth (Boston), Harriet May and Helen Whitfield (Bourne) and Bridgett Scott and Lorraine Shepherd (Woodhall Spa).
