Boston West golfers in action


In the Boston West Golf Club’s Senior Section, the October Medal was won by Errol Appleby witha a 68 nett.

In second was Norman Stanley 74 nett, with Graham Gore 75 nett third and Jim Weight 76 nett fourth.

The Nearest the Pin Winner was Graham Gore on both the fifth and 17th.

The Tony Snell Memorial Trophy was won by John Clark, with 36 points.

Second went to Norman Stanley (36 c/b) with John Chain third (34).

Nearest the Pin winners were Errol Appleby and John Chain.

Tony Snell’s daughters Sandra and Jane attended for the 14th consecutive year to present the trophy in memory of their late father.

The Texas Scramble saw a field of 40 players competing.

Eddie Hunt, Peter Sleight and Graham Storr won, with second place going to John Baker, Norman Stanley and David Brown, with John Chain, Mike Rowe and Ricky Elms in third.

The annual Seniors Captain versus Vice-Captain match saw vice-captain Phil Thomas lead his team to an 8-4 victory, despite seniors captain Andy Frankowski sporting a very bright and colourful outfit.

Nearest the Pin winners were Stewart Pikett fourth, Barrie Wilkinson eighth, Les Martin 12th and Andy Frankowski 18th.
