Boston’s Matt Whyers has proved that dreams do come true, after earning a place in the England under 25s bowls team.
The 24-year-old will travel to Newport, Wales, in February as part of the England team which will take on the hosts, Ireland and Scotland in a home nations tournament.
“I’m delighted. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and this was my last chance as I’m 25 next year,” said Matt, who was a non-participating reserve for the side this year.
Matt decided to take up the sport aged eight, and he now plays for Eastenders, the defending champions in the Boston Indoor League.
“It’s been a good couple of years for me,” said Matt, of Eastwood Road.
