Bowls teams struggling to raise a full compliment

Two teams could only field one rink each in the Mill Inn Division One of the Boston Indoor Bowls Club League this week.

Kirton Town only had G. Homewood, K. Dowling and J. Smith available to face A40, but their 30-13 win was enough to salvage two points.

Jolly Farmers had the same problem against Holland Fen, with just D. Green, J. Moore and D. Allen earning a 26-10 win over A. French.

Top against bottom went to form with L. Reeson, K. Tointon and J. West winning 23-7 and A. Powell, B. Reeson and P. Flatters adding a 31-18 score as Eastenders beat Freelanders 6-0.

Carlton Road won 4-2 against Half Pints and IBC beat Royal Mail 5-1 to move into fifth.

A really tight game at the top of the T&B Containers Division Two saw leaders Punchbowlers win 5-1 against third-placed Strollers - S. Skelton winning 21-20 and J. Skelton drawing 17-17.

Swineshead had the chance to stamp their authority on second place, but could only manage two points against Breakaways, a 25-10 from N. Barnes not enough to match the 29-12 from J. Whyers, L. Stevens and J. Stevens.

Parthians beat Patriarchs 6-0 thanks to a huge 29-6 from P. Sharp and a solid 19-15 from captain K. Nix.

The Golfers lost 4-2 to Amateurs, Feathers took all six points from bottom team Boston Park and Norprint did the same to the lowly Crowns.

In the Cammacks Division Three, leaders Poachers became the first team to break the 100-point barrier with a comfortable 6-0 win over The Burtons, E. Ulyatt (23-10) and J. Riches (19-13) doing the damage.

Third-placed Sibsey beat BBC and The Autos, 4-2 in both games.

BBC’s second game was another defeat, losing 6-0 to High Flyers, following an 18-14 from A. Tabor and 25-6 from B. Trigg.

Fairways pipped Vikings with a 20-16 win for C. Nundy beating the 13-10 reply from P. Jacklin.

Hotspurs seem to be getting the hang of things now and took two points from Traders.

Shipmates and Central had a tussle, Shipmates winning 5-1.
