British tennis star Greg Rusedski will be visiting Boston Tennis Club on Sunday so that he can view Boston Tennis Club’s Aegon Teams in action.
The former US Open finalist will be at the Sleaford Road club between midday and 3pm, and there is an added bonus for all of the 26 Boston Tennis Club teams competing in the Aegon Team Tennis Leagues, in that Rusedski will participate in a special training session for those teams not competing in Aegon matches on the day.
This will also coincide with the club’s free Open Day on Saturday (2-4pm), where anyone can come along and try the game.
Rusedski reached a career high rank of World number four and also won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Greg also held the record for the fastest serve at 149 miles per hour and is now involved with professional tennis in his retirement, working for the Lawn Tennis Association as a talent and performance ambassador.
Boston Tennis Club has attracted national attention by the number of teams that are involved in Aegon Team Tennis – 23 competing in the county divisions, two junior teams at premier level and one men’s team at regional.
Amongst the Aegon Team Tennis matches to be played on Sunday will be the men’s team in the regional tier against old rivals Leicester Forest East at noon.
The Boston Tennis Club Ladies will play later on in the day in the county division against Louth Indoor.
The Ladies – Emma Mastin, Victoria Needham, Charlotte Priestley and Ashleigh Frankish have already played Boston Ladies Seconds, and won without the loss of a rubber.
Playing for the Seconds on this occasion were Chloe Robinson, Jessica Frankish, Jane Hindmarch and Claire Smith.
