John Burton was the sole entrant from the newly-formed Boston Community Runners club to take part at this weekend’s Newton’s Fraction Half Marathon.
The race is one of the county’s most popular road races, with more than 500 people entering the event, which beging at Grantham’s running track and takes in a towpath, country roads and some hills for good measure.
Kirton runner John took on the driving wind and rain to finish in 1:43.36, which included holding back slightly up one of the hills to help a fellow runner who was struggling.
“It was a bit wet and slippery along the towpath”, John reported.
“But all in all, a very enjoyable run.”
John will be running for his new club from the start of April.
Boston Community Runners has been set up to give Boston its own dedicated road running group and is open to beginners through to seasoned runners.
